Reader endorsement letters are open for the November election
The Stillwegian is accepting reader endorsement letters for the Nov. 3 general election in House Districts 32, 33 and 34.
Any member can submit. Letters run 150 to 300 words and appear on the candidate's page in our voter guide, right alongside their bio and questionnaire responses. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
Payne County voters rejected State Question 846 on Tuesday even as the voter identification amendment passed statewide, making Payne one of only four Oklahoma counties to vote it down.
The county also rejected State Question 844 by a wider margin than all but five counties in the state. That measure, which would have changed how the state reimburses local governments for a manufacturing property tax exemption, failed in all 77 counties.
Results are pending certification by the Oklahoma State Election Board.
