The resolutions are the first legal step toward acquiring the land needed for a pipeline meant to end Stillwater's reliance on a single aging water line
The Stillwater City Council authorized eminent domain proceedings Tuesday for two Noble County parcels needed to complete a 7-mile pipeline carrying raw water from Lake McMurtry to the city's treatment plant.
The resolutions clear the way for the city to take the parcels through condemnation if ongoing negotiations with the landowners fail. The pipeline is the centerpiece of a $210 million water infrastructure overhaul the city has pursued since early 2025, intended to give Stillwater a second water source and reduce its reliance on an aging pipeline from Kaw Lake.
