Oklahoma State's season lives on.

The second-seeded Cowboys defeated Davidson in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Junior point guard Kanye Clary led OSU with 20 points, draining five free throws over the final 1:05 to finalize the win.

OSU was without leading scorer Anthony Roy, Vyctorius Miller, and Isaiah Coleman, who were suspended without explanation before tip-off. Postgame, head coach Steve Lutz told reporters he hadn't decided whether the trio would play in Round 2, adding, "They've got to meet the standards and expectations of the program. They're working toward that right now."

Davidson (20-14) led by as many as 14, including a 10-point advantage at halftime. The Wildcats led for 26:24 of game time before OSU came storming back. The Cowboys rallied to go up 66-62 after a Clary 3-pointer with 9:17 remaining.

The remainder of the game was a back-and-forth contest. OSU eventually pulled away as guard Daniel Guetta hit a 3-pointer, forward Christian Coleman converted a layup, and Guetta added two free throws to help ice the game.

While most freshmen arrive in Stillwater straight from high school, Guetta took a longer road. The 22-year-old guard from Kiryat Gat, Israel, averaged 9.6 points and 4.7 assists with Maccabi Rehovot last season and helped Hapoel Gilboa Galil capture the 2024 Israeli National League title before ever putting on a Cowboys uniform. His 11 points Tuesday — on 4-of-5 shooting in 21 minutes — were a new season high in orange and black, and they came when OSU needed them most.

With the win, the Cowboys (20-14) advance to face third-seeded Wichita State in the second round, which will take place either Saturday or Sunday in Stillwater. OSU has advanced to the quarterfinals in each of its three prior NIT appearances; a win this weekend would put the Cowboys back in familiar territory.
