Independent — Candidate, Oklahoma House District 00
Whitfield has operated a large-animal veterinary practice in Ashcroft since 2004 and served two terms on the Ashcroft school board, including one as president. She holds a bachelor's degree in animal science and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. She and her husband raise cattle on a fourth-generation family operation east of town.

A message from Dana Whitfield
I have spent twenty-two years driving the section roads of this district at two in the morning, because that is when a cow decides to have trouble calving. In that time I have been in more barns, kitchens and equipment sheds than anyone running for this seat, and I have listened to a lot of people talk about what is worrying them.
What I hear has changed. It used to be cattle prices. Now it is whether the hospital in the next county over will still be open, whether a grandchild who wants to come home can find work here, and whether a tax bill will arrive that a fixed income cannot cover.
I am running as an independent because I am tired of being told those are partisan questions. They are not. They are arithmetic, and they deserve someone at the Capitol who will do the arithmetic honestly and say so out loud, even when it is inconvenient for whoever is in charge.
I am not a politician and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What I am is a person who shows up when called, who reads the whole file before deciding, and who has spent a career telling people things they did not want to hear because it was true. That is the job I am asking for.

- Rural health care — Keep county hospitals open and expand the loan-repayment program that brings physicians to towns under 10,000.
- Property taxes — Protect landowners and seniors from valuation increases that outpace income.
- Agriculture — Fight consolidation in processing and input markets that leaves producers with no real choice.
- Public schools — Fund the classroom first and let local boards make local decisions.
- Water — Plan for the next drought now, not during it.
