Health experts talk screens, AI chatbots at Stillwater parent forum
Panel covered age guidelines, phone access in crisis care and whether gamified learning trains compulsive use
Screen time limits, AI companion chatbots and classroom gamification were the focus of a panel of health and youth-services professionals Aug. 27 at "Screens in School: What Parents Should Know," a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Stillwater and the parent group Schools Beyond Screens Stillwater at the Stillwater Public Library.
Schools Beyond Screens Stillwater is a local parent group formed out of concern that schools have moved too far toward digital curriculum and one-to-one devices. Dr. Emily Graham, an associate professor of history at Oklahoma State University and one of the group's founders, described it at the forum as one of many similar groups nationally.
