EDITOR'S NOTE: When The Stillwegian's 2026 voter guide was first published on June 7, it did not include Oklahoma House District 32. The race was added on June 12.
The omission was The Stillwegian's error. It meant the District 32 candidates did not receive our candidate questionnaire before the June 10 deadline, and District 32 voters did not have the same information available to them ahead of the primary that voters in other races did.
We apologize to readers in District 32 and to both candidates. Both will receive the full questionnaire ahead of the November general election, and responses are published on each candidate's profile as received.
About the office
Oklahoma state representatives serve two-year terms and are members of the lower chamber of the state Legislature. Their responsibilities include introducing and voting on legislation, setting state spending levels, and voting on tax measures. The Legislature meets in regular session from February to May each year.
About the district
House District 32 covers all of Lincoln County, plus Perkins in Payne County and Meridian in Logan County.
The November race
Rep. Jim Shaw won the June 16 Republican primary and faces independent candidate Andy Brown on Nov. 3. Brown did not appear on a primary ballot.

The candidates
Jim Shaw, 41, Chandler
Republican — Incumbent · On the Nov. 3 ballot
Shaw has represented House District 32 since November 2024, after defeating then-incumbent Rep. Kevin Wallace — at the time chair of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee — in the August 2024 Republican primary runoff. He is an entrepreneur in the oil and gas industry and serves as vice chair of the State Powers Committee.
Andy Brown, 57, Prague
Independent · On the Nov. 3 ballot
Brown describes himself on his campaign website as a recently retired lifelong farmer and a "common sense moderate." He has lived in Lincoln County with his wife and their two sons for more than 17 years. His site lists energy, democracy, and education as his issue priorities.
Jack Vaughan, 54, Chandler
Republican — Did not advance
Vaughan lost the June 16 Republican primary and is not on the November ballot. His biography and record remain published.
Vaughan is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, rancher, and lifelong Oklahoman, according to his campaign website.
