OSU was represented well in the Big 12's All-Conference honors
With the NCAA Wrestling Championships in full swing, All-Conference honors are being unveiled.
On Thursday, Big 12 Conference announced its postseason accolades, and Oklahoma State was well-represented. Second-year coach David Taylor earned Big 12 Coach of the Year honors after leading the Cowboys to a 15-1 regular season finish and their second-straight conference title two weeks ago. OSU's loss of the season came against Iowa in November during the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, which was rectified with a 32-11 win in Stillwater last month.
OSU 133-pounder Jax Forrest garnered Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors after a 13-0 campaign leading into nationals. That, of course, included 12 bonus-point wins — a 85.71% bonus-point win rate — and an individual Big 12 title.
Alex Facundo, the Cowboys' 174-pound starter, earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors. Facundo, a transfer from Penn State, is 16-6 on the year, and 10-0 in Big 12 matches. He has won 15 of his last 18 matches heading into nationals, which included eight wins against ranked opponents, and a runner-up finish in Big 12s.
