The Cowboys lose one of their returning starters under center for 2026
Oklahoma State's roster had already undergone drastic changes since former coach Mike Gundy's firing in September. And since the hiring of former North Texas Eric Morris, it's only become more expedited.
That didn't change Monday.
According to a report from ESPN's Max Olsen, OSU starting quarterback Zane Flores is plans to enter the transfer portal after three seasons in Stillwater, He departed high school as a three-star prospect and the No. 483 overall recruit in the 2023 recruiting class after being named the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior at Grenta High School. He chose OSU over the likes of Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State and others.

Flores was thrown into the line of fire midway through the first quarter of OSU's season opener against UT-Martin after former starting quarterback Hauss Hejny broke a bone in his right foot. Flores started eight games for the Cowboys, throwing for three touchdowns, 1,454 yards and seven interceptions, to go with two rushing touchdowns.
As of Monday, and pending a decision from former Tulsa transfer Banks Bowen, Hejny will be the lone returner for the Cowboys at quarterback. That is, of course, not factoring in potential traffic Morris and Co. could endure in the transfer portal.
