The Lady Pioneers couldn't overcome Edmond Memorial's explosive first quarter in their first loss of the season, falling 61-52 Friday night at Pioneer Field House.

Stillwater (3-1) battled back after the Bulldogs exploded for 30 points in the opening period, holding Edmond Memorial scoreless in the second quarter while cutting the deficit to 30-29 at halftime. But the early hole proved too deep, as the Bulldogs regained control in the second half.

The Lady Pioneers trailed 30-24 after one quarter before clamping down defensively in the second, outscoring Edmond Memorial 5-0 to nearly erase the deficit. Despite the defensive effort, Stillwater couldn't complete the comeback.

Sophomore Khalia Moore (10) provided the lone bright spot offensively, turning in a perfect performance with 18 points on 8-of-8 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. It was a dominant inside performance from Moore, who has now scored in double figures in all four games this season.

Junior Graycie Murray (11) added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a three-pointer and a perfect 3-of-3 mark from the charity stripe. Sophomore Ava Marsh chipped in 11 points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line while knocking down a three-pointer.

The Lady Pioneers shot efficiently overall, but couldn't generate enough offense to overcome the early deficit. Edmond Memorial's 30-point opening quarter set the tone, and despite Stillwater's defensive stand in the second quarter, the Bulldogs regained control in the second half by outscoring the Lady Pioneers 16-11 in the third quarter and 15-12 in the fourth.

Jacey Streeter (12), Reagan Bell (33) and Michelle Kolone (44) each contributed three points for Stillwater. Marsh added two assists in the losing effort.
