A schedule has been set for the inaugural season of the Eric Morris era at Oklahoma State.

On Wednesday, the Big 12 unveiled schedules for all 16 conference members, including OSU. The Cowboys endured a backloaded conference slate, featuring contests against the two most-recent conference champions, Arizona State and Texas Tech, in two of the final three weekends of the season.

Simultaneously, OSU will face four teams that finished in the bottom sixth of the 2025 conference standings. The Cowboys open Big 12 play at West Virginia on Sept. 26 and segue into a bye week before hosting UCF at Boone Pickens Stadium on Oct. 10. They will host Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffs on Homecoming weekend, Oct. 24. And should the Cowboys be fighting for bowl eligibility heading into the final weekend, they will host Kansas on Nov. 28 to close out the regular season.

None of the aforementioned bunch attained bowl eligibility last season and finished a combined 8-28 in conference play.

Additionally, OSU will play programs — Kansas State and Iowa State — that also feature first-year head coaches. Albeit, both contests will be on the road.

OSU’s nonconference schedule, which had been previously reported, commences Sept. 5 when the Cowboys face rival Tulsa on the road for their season opener. One week later, OSU hosts Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks, coming off their second-consecutive College Football Playoff appearance, on Sept. 12. The Cowboys then host FCS Murray State on Sept. 19 to round out nonconference play.

As of Wednesday, OSU will play each of its games in 2026 on Saturdays. Though, the Big 12 has the option to move certain Saturday games to select Fridays. However, kickoff times and select television networks will be set at a later date.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that the Big 12 is moving its conference championship slot to a Friday after holding it on Saturdays the previous five years. The 2026 Big 12 Championship game will take place Dec. 4 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

OSU is coming off a 1-11 season, which saw the Cowboys go winless in conference play for the second-straight season and post the lowest win total since 1991. Morris succeeds former coach Mike Gundy, who was fired in September following a home loss to Tulsa and a 1-2 start to the year.
