Heavy activity in the transfer portal is often expected from programs undergoing coaching changes.
Oklahoma State fans are experiencing that firsthand. After Mike Gundy was fired Sept. 23 after a home loss to Tulsa and a 1-2 start, 13 players entered midseason. And since Eric Morris’ hiring in November, more have since opted to test the waters of the transfer portal.
Morris brought his general manager from North Texas, 24-year-old Rahj Murti, to fill the same role at OSU. During Morris’ introductory press conference Dec. 8, athletic director Chad Weiberg told reporters the athletic department’s plans to max out its roster budget and fully invest in the portal. And the new staff has already begun piecing together a plan regarding its approach to reeling in news prospects.
The portal officially opens from Jan. 2-16 including for those at OSU who did not enter during the allotted 30-day window following Gundy’s firing. With the NCAA eliminating its second transfer window, which opened in April, players participating in the College Football Playoffs will be given an additional five days from Jan. 20-24.
That said, here is a look at who’s coming in and going out for OSU in the portal this offseason.
